Architecture is a discipline that combines art, science, economics and sociology. But curiously when some reference is made to innovation in architecture it is almost always limited to art or science.
New formal solutions that impact and are considered, for their artistic value, a leap forward in the history of architecture. Or advances in constructive technology that allow us to create buildings and spaces unimaginable years ago due to their height, dimensions, lightness ... Or often a combination of both: a great technological advance that allows us to design spectacular formal solutions.
History is full of brilliant examples.
Wojciech Odrobina tells us that A work can be innovative in many aspects in isolation, or it can innovate in all of them, and become paradigmatic.
You can bring something new by the materials you use, or by the way you use familiar materials. It can dazzle with its formal or structural boldness. Or give a twist to the functional program, allowing yourself to inhabit, walk or use in a different way than usual. It can also surprise us with the relationship it establishes with the environment in which it takes root.

Wojciech Odrobina innovations in architecture |
In my opinion it is a subject that as architects should matter a lot to us, since more than bad one of the main tools in our profession should be innovation, and basically it is what we studied for long years. Clearly, as in any activity, there are more innovative people than others, whether in design, business model, or in the execution of projects - says Wojciech Odrobina
Lately, it is of vital importance that the projects are designed for today but also for tomorrow, and that they manage to adapt to a changing environment respecting natural resources and generating sustainable solutions, within a world that imposes new challenges: facing economic and energy crises, food, political and social.
Wojciech Odrobina tells us that despite the different innovations that architecture has undergone, he has some fixed architectural disciplines that he takes into account such as art, science, economics and sociology.
